Purchased from Amazon arived NEXT day. Fantastic. Try to set up for WINXP: no documentation for xp. Called Acer tech support. You must have a valid serial number to even speak with human. Three tech support reps say it’s OK for winxp. Then they send me to Gateway PAID support for configuration. That would be $60 for 30 minute session. Nope. Back to Acer: three attempts at tech support, no it won’t work with xp. It “requires a graphical OS.” Online documentation says it takes advantage of multitouch capabilities of Win7, but not that it won’t function as a plain touch monitor. One tech support said “that is not a touch monitor,” despite it’s designation as a multitouch monitor. The screen itself is a nice LCD. Clear glass is quite reflective. Kudos to AMAZON for shipping it out and making it SOOOO easy to return. My suggestion if you need touch monitor for winxp is HP’s L2105TM. It’s just not available right now (12/15/2009). I now hate acer.

Bought this monitor approximately a week ago, received it fairly promptly, and set it up. After using it for the first evening and playing with it for the first evening without issue, I went to bed.
I woke up the next morning, turned it on and started to watch a movie. Partway through, the screen died. I went to reposition it and all of a sudden it turned back on so I went through the cables and made sure everything was in… it was good for another hour or so, and it happened again. I found that if I pressed on the bottom right hand bezel the screen would work fine, until I released the pressure, and it would die again. I have serious concerns about the build quality of this thing, for it have had this problem so early. Sending it off to acer for repairs… hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

Setup = Windows 7 64bit Pro, I7 975 extreme ed, ATI 5750 graphics card and 12 gigs ram, Inel X-25m 80gb SSD.
Now to what you really want to know, how is the touch

–Flicking through photos takes a little practice but when you get the hang of it it works great–
–Bezel is hardcore black plastic and the bottom stick out–

All in all I love the monitor and am glad I bought it. Now my computer is complete……for now, I might get a projector !!!!

The multi touch gets confused if you use two fingers, then rotate. The selection points initially follow the two fingers, then suddenly shoot off in the wrong direction, but heading for the opposite finger. It looks like a software issue. Avoid this monitor until Acer fix the problem. It seems that others are finding exactly the same problem.

My Setup:

* Windows 7 PC
* HDMI out is sent to a 4×2 HDMI Matrix which then pushes the signal over 45 feet of HDMI cable to this monitor.
* USB is converted to CAT5 and run over 50 feet and converted back to USB to connect with the monitor.
I have been using this monitor for a couple months now, and for the most part, I’m still very happy with my purchase. The display is crisp and bright. The touch screen responsiveness is generally fantastic.

In the past two months, it has developed 2 stuck pixels. I ran JScreenFix for an hour, and nothing happened. The screen is rigid like glass, so I cannot even attempt to massage the pixels. It seems like I’m just stuck with them. It’s rather irritating, and I’m worried that more will appear with time.
Sometimes, the volume rocker will not respond even when fully depressed. This is easy to get around, as all I have to do is rock it the other direction once and then return it to the original direction I desired. Somewhat minor, but I still consider this a flaw.

The drivers for the touch screen controls are not consistent. Sometimes presses go unrecognized. Sometimes while dragging a scrollable area, it just stops scrolling after a second or two, requiring you to lift you finger and start dragging again. Quite often, the multi-touch controls don’t work. A lot of the issues with the touch screen controls appear to be some sort of lag. I have not tried using a shorter USB connection to see if these problems go away.
I have a bluetooth Logitech keyboard and mouse connected to my PC. Quite often, when my computer has gone idle and I try to wake it up with my mouse or keyboard, nothing happens. If I use the touch screen, it wakes up every time. Usually, I will then be able to use my other devices just fine, but sometimes they remain unusable until the next reboot. It’s like the touchscreen drivers are completely overriding all other input devices.
The volume key rocker just feels awkward. I am not a fan of the design.
I wish the monitor had USB ports built into it.
The stand is large and bulky, and since I bought this monitor to mount onto a wall bracket, I do not even need it. It would be nice if you could purchase the monitor without the stand for a cheaper price.
